- WHAT IS COIN COLLECTOR'S ASSISTANT(CCA)?
- ----------------------------------------
- CCA is a solid database perfect for the home coin collector, yet powerful
- enough for professional business use. It allows you to easily manage (or
- track) your coin collection(s). The program is so easy to use, you will
- find yourself adding dozens of records very quickly. In short, the CCA
- is the fast, fun way to document your coin inventory.
-
- Although this demo version is limited to only 25 records per project, the
- 'real' (full) version handles up to 25,000 records per project.
-
- Each record contains the information for one coin. Once you have entered
- this data, it is stored on disk (most likely harddrive) for easy retrieval
- at a later date.
-
- You can easily view your entire collection(s), perform a search based on
- Type (Lincoln Penny for example), Date (1964D for example), Proof (PR90
- for example), or Value (.01 for example).
-
- Although this demo version does not support it, the full version will also
- allow you to print out your coin list. You can print the full collection,
- a range of coin records, etc.
-
-
-
- WHY CREATE ANOTHER COIN DATABASE?
- ---------------------------------
- Quite simply because there is an undeniable need for a straight forward,
- easy-to-use database for coin collectors.
-
- I have personally tried two other coin databases and while they were
- both flashy and offered a point-and-click interface, they were also over
- complicated. This problem might be acceptable if these applications
- were priced within reason. In my opinion, they were not.
-
- The motivation behind Coin Collector's Assistant was to create a database
- you can quickly learn while still being very effective and very affordable.
-
- I sincerely hope the CCA has reached those aspirations.
-
-
-
- INSTALLING THE PROGRAM
- ----------------------
- The program is already installed! That's right, if you are reading this
- document then the program has already been unzipped to an appropriate
- directory (a.k.a. folder) and that is all that was needed.
-
-
-
- STARTING THE PROGRAM
- --------------------
- To start the program from Windows simply double-click on the "StartCCA.exe"
- file. Note: This file may be displayed as an icon labeled "StartCCA".
-
- To start the program from DOS simply CD to the appropriate directory...
- example... C:\WINDOWS> cd c:\CCA
- this would Change to the CCA Directory (CD=Change Directory).
- Note: The C: is an example. You would replace the C with name of your
- harddrive... most likely it will be C:
-
- Now, simply enter "startcca" at the next prompt...
- example... C:\CCA> startcca
- Note: Change the CCA reference to the name of the directory where you
- unzipped the CCA.ZIP archive.
-
-
-
- USING THE PROGRAM
- -----------------
- As I said, CCA is meant to be very easy to use. For this reason, I am
- only explaining the very basics of its use.
-
- I have included five records in the default COINS.DBF project. Upon
- starting the application, simply press V at the main menu to view these
- five coin entries. The best way to learn is to experiment. Try doing
- a search, adding some coins, removing some coins, etc. Then when you
- are ready, you can move on to creating a real project file...
-
-
-
- HOW DO I CREATE A NEW PROJECT FILE?
- -----------------------------------
- The default database project is "COINS.DBF".
-
- If you want to create a new database project, for example "MYCOINS.DBF",
- simply perform the following steps:
-
- 1. Select the 'CHOOSE A Database project' MAIN MENU option (press C).
- 2. At the prompt, enter the name of the database then press 'Enter'.
- note: in this example you would enter "MYCOINS.DBF"
-
- If you decide that you do not want to create a new project, simply
- 'Enter' a blank line for the project name.
-
- Now, wasn't that simple?
-
- NOTE: you should add the ".DBF" to the end of your project names as it
- helps to keep your files organized.
-
-
-
- HOW DO I OPEN AN OLD PROJECT FILE?
- ----------------------------------
- The default database project is "COINS.DBF".
-
- If you want to open an old database project, for example "MYCOINS.DBF",
- simply perform the following steps:
-
- 1. Select the 'CHOOSE A Database project' MAIN MENU option (press C).
- 2. At the prompt, enter the name of the old project then press 'Enter'.
- note: in this example you would enter "MYCOINS.DBF"
-
- If you decide that you do not want to open the old project, simply
- 'Enter' a blank line for the project name.
-
- Again, simple wasn't it?
-
-
- NOTE: you should add the ".DBF" to the end of your project names as it
- helps to keep your files organized.
-
-
-
